263 Tuttlingen a place to do business More than 400 medical technology companies employing around 8,000 peo- ple are employed in Europe’s biggest medical technology cluster working on innovative medical devices, surgical instruments and state of the art implant technologies. The large and many smaller companies in the medical techno- logy industry, the food industry and non-essential food industry, plant engi- neering and business-oriented service sector companies make Tuttlingen a vibrant town with around 26,000 jobs, 18,000 commuters a day and a great deal to offer for all. A large proportion of Tuttlingen’s companies are global players. More than 65% of products are exported, mainly to the key markets of the EU and the USA, but the town is also successful in exporting to South America and Asia as well.
